How The World Works
Central Idea: |
Forces of nature impact people in different ways.
|
Lines of Inquiry: |
*How the force of push or pull can change the motion of an object
*How unseen forces can impact objects and people *How balance is affected by changes in position and weight |

Families,
We are in the middle of exploring the science of balance and motion.
We have learned that a force can be a push or pull.
We explored the pushing force applied to a top, observed how it spins then loses its balance.
We also created rollers with axles and noticed the motion of rolling.
Some of the unseen forces of nature we have discussed are the pull of gravity and the push of wind.
While at home these next weeks, have your first grader look through their toy box for items that move. Look for toys that roll, spin, bounce, etc... Build ramps of different heights and sizes to explore the pulling force of gravity. Fly a kite!
Enjoy the science around you!
