Dear Families,
In an effort to provide a positive communication link between school and home, I have created this website for your information. My hope is that the policies and information provided on this site will encourage understanding and cooperation between home and school, not to mention an educational resource for your child!
To let you know a little bit about myself, I went to school at the University of Colorado in Boulder. While there, I earned a B.A. in Communication and my Elementary Teaching Certificate. I also received my Masters of Education through Lesley College. This will be my thirtieth year of teaching. All of those years have been in Kindergarten, first, or second grade.
My husband and I moved to Cary in August of 2000. We are very happy to call North Carolina our home and have enjoyed walking the nature trails, as well as keeping cool at the beach and the pool. Our oldest son, Jack, is a recent graduate from Eastern Carolina University and is working in Charlotte, and Henry, our youngest, is now a Senior at UNC Charlotte. Both of my boys had their elementary education right here at Farmington Woods!
It is so important to establish positive feelings towards school and learning right from the start. I am looking forward to working with you in creating a successful and unforgettable first grade experience for your child.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call, write, e-mail, use Talking Points, or stop by the classroom. I am usually available before school from 8:15-8:45 and after school from 4:15 - 4:45.
My e-mail is [email protected].
Sincerely,
Amy Long
